After wandering around Zhongshan Road for half a day on this trip to Xiamen, I dragged my suitcase and checked into Xiamen Huaqiao Hotel. The moment I opened the door, I realized that the room facilities of this old hotel completely broke my stereotype of outdated hotel facilities.
I booked a twin room with a city view, and as soon as I stood at the door, I was struck by the details of the entrance: there was a thick silent door stopper hanging behind the door, and there were five hanging points reserved in the adjacent hanging area. My coat, backpack, and newly purchased souvenirs could all be hung up easily without being piled up in my suitcase. In the embedded shoe cabinet on the left side of the entrance, not only are there two pairs of thick soled anti-skid slippers, but also shoe picks and shoe cleaning cloths are thoughtfully prepared. After wandering around for a day, the dusty white shoes can be easily wiped clean.
The core lounge area of the room completely exceeded expectations, with two 1.35-meter large beds made of high count cotton bedding. There was no slippery feeling like a cheap hotel when lying down, and the mattress was moderately soft and hard, neither too soft to sink in nor too hard to hurt the waist. The most surprising thing is the layout of the bedside facilities, with independent USB charging ports and five hole sockets on both sides, eliminating the need to compete for charging potential. Each is also equipped with an adjustable angle bedside reading light. At night, my friends and I watch TV shows and read books without interfering with each other. Next to the leisure sofa by the window, there is a small side table specially reserved, where the hotel provides free Minnan specialty tea bags and electric kettles. When you get tired of strolling, you can soak in a cup of Tie Guan Yin and look up to see the arcade roof of Zhongshan Road. In the distance, you can also catch a glimpse of the light blue sea towards Gulangyu Island.
The facilities in the bathroom are intricately detailed, with a complete separation of dry and wet areas. The sealing strip of the glass door fits perfectly, and the floor won't get wet even after taking a shower. The constant temperature hot water system produces hot water within three seconds of opening, with just the right amount of water flow and no sudden changes in temperature. The storage rack in the shower area has been designed with layers, allowing shower gel, shampoo, and built-in skincare products to be neatly arranged without tilting around. The countertop of the washbasin is spacious enough to hold all my skincare products, and the mirror next to it has been treated with anti fog. After taking a shower, I don't have to wipe the mirror with fog for a long time. There is also a magnifying makeup mirror specially placed on the countertop, which is too friendly to girls' makeup.
The most easily overlooked details are also well done. The central air conditioning in the room is silent, and even when turned on to 24 degrees, there is almost no sound of operation. Sleeping with it on at night will not be disturbed by noise. The curtains by the window are double layered, with one layer of gauze curtains and one layer of full blackout curtains. If you want to sleep in on weekends, pull up the full blackout curtains and the room will be dark like late at night, completely avoiding being awakened by the morning sunlight. The TV is a high-definition smart model that supports mobile phone screen mirroring. If you don't want to go out at night, you can stream your travel videos taken during the day onto the big screen and watch them slowly from the comfort of your bed.
I stayed for two nights without encountering any facility malfunctions. Everything was clean and functional, without the common issues of paint peeling, water stains, or lagging in old hotels. Compared to the flashy but impractical decorations of many internet famous hotels, every facility of Xiamen Huaqiao Hotel perfectly meets the daily needs of guests. This down-to-earth comfort is the most rare experience of travel accommodation. Next time I come to Xiamen, I will definitely stay in this room again.Show more
